Birthday Countdown

We love birthdays here. Actually, that's probably putting it midly. The kiddos LOVE, LOVE, LOVE birthdays. We generally plan the party a couple of months ahead. And now that the big day is just a week away we have started the countdown.

I took a green frame. Gave it a couple of coats of hot pink paint. Made a korker bow with a button hot-glued in the middle. Then used gorilla glue (love this stuff!) to glue the bow to the frame. The other day I found a free birthday countdown printable (http://www.lifesweetlifeblog.com/2011/02/birthday-countdown-printable.html), printed it out, and stuck it in my frame. Then we added the 9 with a dry erase marker on the glass. So easy and cute. My kind of project. LOVE.

Picture Perfect

I have a perfectionism tendency. It's calmed over the years, but is still there, hanging out in the back of my mind. Maybe it has calmed down because a lot has been passed on to Taylor, I don't know. But that's another story... At any rate, we have ideals in our heads of how things should go. I have illusions of grandur on a regular basis. Images in my mind of how a particular event / activity / you name it should go. Picture taking is a prime example of when nearly everyone's perfectionism gene shines bright. I've learned to roll with the kiddos mood on this one. The more you stress, the worse the picture. When you focus on having fun with it rather than capturing the perfect picture you actually end up accomplishing both - good time and great picture.
